TEXTURES problem finding and applying

Since this latest update there's been a change in selecting textures, and it's AWFUL!!! Is this a "new feature" for some reason?

What happens is this: you apply a texture, okay. Now you decide something else should be that same texture, but of course you can't remember which of your ten thousand textures it was, even though they are in neat folders and named something memorable like "aka15-general-stubble-25" :))

Now, normally you'd be able to click on the previous prim and select its texture, and up in the selection box would come its icon and name, ready selected for you in the folder list. All you'd have to do is drag that texture to your new piece, bob's your uncle.

But NOW, the texture doesn't come up in the list. All you get is the root of the texture folder and sometimes other folders as WELL. No hint what that texture might be.

To find the pesky texture you have to start your search all over again EVERY SINGLE TIME. It doesn't even stay open to let you apply it to subsequent prims, so all I do is search, find, search, find, seach, find. Even if i can remember the texture name, and type that into the find box, it's still a clumsy way of operating.

It was also useful before to find out if a texture used on a bought (modifiable)object was an owner's texture or a standard Linden one - by seeing if it came up in the Library list or something you already owned. If it was an owner's texture and did not appear in your inventory, beware of re-texturing an object.... but now, how can we tell?

PLEASE change it back to the way it was before.

Bonny, I agree with you. This is very flustrating. I assume it is due to the new "eyedroper" tool. However like you, I have not been sucessfull in using that tool either. I have used a eyedroper on many different programs (both photo/texture editors and 3d programs) and it does not work similar to any of them. Yet how much different can they make a simple tool like a eyedroper? I also think it does not work. I would suggest bug reporting it (once SL is back up).

Same here, I hate it, it makes working on building a whole lot tougher and very time consuming. I've almost just given up building entirely till this is fixed.

yes, this is yet another reason why building in SL suck now.

LL prolly already started losing tones ofmoney with this terrible, pathetic, crappy and worthless update EVER, in any game did i ever see such a badly done upgrade... more like a downgrade.

Gotta say, I too find this to be highly annoying. The old way was so much better, both because it showed the current texture in use in your inventory (if it was indeed there), and because sometimes every folder with textures in your inventory appears in your selection list FULLY EXPANDED, thus meaning you have to go through and collapse everything to get where you want to be :(

Also quite annoying (though on a slightly different topic), I seem to be having issues rotating the texture previews for clothing, i.e. lower body etc. This facility was never brilliant, but I was really struggling to rotate the preview at all last night :(

Sooooo many things were soooo much better before this latest upgrade. I'm actually finding it hard to think of anything that's better in the new release...

hmmmm.. /me thinks for a few minutes..

Perhaps the map? Not too keen on the "new look", but I think some of the bugs are now fixed... maybe?

Yes, the eyedropper does work for me. However, unless I'm missing something, I can't see what use it is when working with new textures (just uploaded) or clothing textures?
