Is it just me, or are other people missing items from their house, too? A friend and I were building a dining set when the grid went down. The table and chairs were finished, we were working on poseballs, the grid went down. When I came back, everything we built is gone.

Perhaps in order to recover massive amounts of corrupt data they had to roll servers back to a time before the grid attack. That often happens in regard to server issues and database corruptions.

*nods* That makes sense, which is why I asked whether this happened only to me (in which case it might be a bug that should be reported, rather than just something that happened grid-wide.)

Lost Stuff Too

I had just taken a house full of furniture out of my inventory and placed it before the grid went down. It's all completely GONE. If LL did a roll back should these things not be back in my inventory?

Missing items WHY?
05-02-2006 06:05
I seem to be bitten by the missing inventory bug. I have had items rez and never appear, nor returned to my inventory. I have given items to people only to have them receive empty folders (and yes they were trans and the items gone). I find this to be quite upsetting WHY?

1. These items represent my "assets." They have RL $ value and I have spent (according to my Visa bill) quite a bit of real dollars to acquire them. And they are effectively being "stolen" from me against my will and I am neither being negligent nor acting without responsibility.

2. With my land I am paying 75$ a month to be in SL, it is beginning to be rediculous and a waste of money. I have played off and on since 2004 and have never had these types of problems.

Where are the solutions? What are the ideas? Inventory insurance? Limiting items (thresholds) for basic account holders?

This monster is just going to grow and "working on it" is not a solution it's an excuse. Considering the economy of SL and that its consumer driven one would think this would be a priority issue. Who is going to purchase Lidens to acquire items when they may or may not be there the next, day, week, month? Why create if there is no market to sell? Creation and interaction are the 2 fundementals of SL, one of them is at risk for extinction.

thanks

I've lost over 50 items in my inventory, I sent some furniture back to my alt, and they disappeared. Luckily some of the creators helped me out, others didn't. Oh well. I'll just start a new collection, and remember the ones that helped me. :)

edit: and this was BEFORE the attacks. Sucks, but what can ya do.

I'll post back here if this happens to me too. I've had content loss before--not in awhile, but some posts were made to SL Answers about this and I've replied... please get all the data in so our bug hunters can check it out. Thanx.

BTW, also wanted to add--if you've already sent a bug report with all the details about your missing items, please email the bug report # (you'll get it in an autoreply after you first send it in) to me... torley@lindenlab.com and I'll double-check to make sure it gets to the right place.
