I just ordered up a new mac lap top, the PowerBook G4 17" (the Macbook was too backorderd to wait on and they gave me 15% off the PowerBook too) upgraded to 1GB of RAM. Can anyone tell me is the SL interface much differnt on the Mac then the PC? This is my first forray into a Mac. I had avoided them for a long time because I could not play the MMO I was on at the time one them. Now thats not an issue and I think they look much cooler so I ordered one :)

I know that you'll need to press the Apple key rather than the Control key for keyboard shortcuts but apart from that I'm not aware of differences.

Incidentally that's pretty much the same setup as I have - exactly the same if yours is a 1.5Ghz pbook. Well, I believe that the new model has a higher res screen than my own one.

FYI: The ctl key works just as it does on the PC, in fact, unless you mess with the nib in the resources, ctl+M is the only way to open the map in windowed mode.

command is optional. ( if you can excuse the pun )

The interface on the Mac is exactly the same as it is on the PC.

If you build a lot then set the prefs to use the Macs built in colour picker it's way better than than SLs.

Thanks you two.

Its a 1.67GHz PowerPC G4 for the CPU on it and a Redeon 9700 w/128Mb of ram for the video so I knew it would be fine with SL.

I am looking forward to getting it here. I do a bit of building so you say use the systems color picker I will give it a whirl.

Thanks again!

In the preferences there is an option to use the system colour picker instead of the one built in to SL. I prefer the system colour picker on the Mac because it has more options and is much more flexible and useful.

[edit] actually I need to mention it's only really better in windowed mode which is what I run in all the time. Using a system colour picker in full screen mode can be a pita !
