My roomie has been playing Second Life under Windows ME....but now that version 1.6 is out, the program won't even come up when the icon is clicked.

Is 1.6 totally incompatiable with Win ME now? Or is there a way to get ME to run 1.6....at least until we can get this station upgraded to XP? Any input would be appreciated. :)

That's the same symptoms I'm getting with WineX (linux) on one of my two SL machines, simply refuses to 'launch'. I'd give debug info, but even WineX isnt giving me any.

I believe LL has never supported running SL on ME, the fact that one could do so was just... incidental. 1.6 adds features that require later versions of the Windows OS. They didn't exactly "break" compatibility with older versions of Windows... compatibility was never intended.

What version of Windows are you having WineX emulate? I can get 1.6 to run to the point of giving me a black screen and a great deal of status output.

The machine that's working has Windows files loaded from a legitimate windows directory (installed with VMware and setup as wine's resource dir), the other one however is virtually stock Point2Play running WineX 3.3.2-1 set to emulate Windows2000.
