I cannot start SL , because the hardware test says i have a GDi generic graphic crad and need to upgrade to a newer one. Is there a workaround for this problem ? Please help, i want to play.
P.S. ... got all latest drivers esp. for my vid card... - running Windows Vista Ultimate..

32 / 64 bit ?, upgrade or clean install?
Possibly old one laying around if it was a upgrade , usually get rid of that msg if you uninstall vid driver then reinstall it, SL is annoying picky tho, so you have to use some drivercleaner sometimes to fix this 32bit v100.64 (beta) feb.13.07 v97.46 jan.05.07 |

I did a cleaninstall under 32bit Vista , then i installed the latest 97.46 Detonator for Vista... mmmh i will try to uninstall them and do a reinstall... hope this will work.

nah 6600 is ok for Vista (just dont even try to go lower -.-), youd want a whole lot of system ram tho, 2gig is definatly a min if you plan on using (cough...barbie..windows) aero

meh still dont get why SL is so picky about this,
some suggestions 1 format/reinstall (oh the joy har har) 2 update to betadrivers (and prob get other issues woopie) 3 completly find and remove any nvidia graphic drivers manually after you did a uninstall Reinstalling SL wont fix this, its either some motherboarddrivers not playing nice (notice how this doesnt affect aaanything but SL and GDI,only once ever happend to me -nvidia4 chipset-) vidcard drivers remnant ...wich just make no sense since you had a clean install right -.- 3rd is pretty rare, but some vid cards from Asus uses a "encanched" ...something driver to controll fan, that totally crash with SL and always will smack you with "GDI" generetic in SL, could be some app you installed with vid card that cause this?, dunno (drivercleaner gone commersial and stoopid, cause it wasnt that handy prog wich you MUST have, maybe once a year use) |
