Hi there,
after a few hours of an SL business meeting with my RL buddy,
I dug out an old cd of Farcry that I bought in Canada on my last trip home (from seoul)
The graphics in that game are truly stunning! Ive been to thailand in RL once, and after I got on a boat in that game, and looked at the shimering water... and the beautiful tropical paradise on the screen before me, so many memories came flooding back. The realism of Farcry is amazing!
My question is, since the viewer is now Opensource, would it be technically possible for similar graphics in Second Life?
Please let me know your thoughts
Cheers

'Sadly no, farcry engine uses alot of things SL cant do its far outdated, client only recives so unless Secondlife ever get a new engine (doubt it really). Bring on Secondlife 2 exsample Farcry > speedtree/grass, tiny maps Secondlife > fractal tree's, no grass Only thing you can do with client is change how SL look diffrently /gui/colors and optimizes (?) recive/sends to SL, pretty useless really, since its all dependant on reciving from server to know what to do. If SL could do half of this engine ^.~ Linkie
