OK, here goes. I recently bought a new computer. I really only bought the thing because I started playing Second Life and wanted it to run really well. The computer I had before this one would barely load the game but it at least would run it without keeling over. So here are my new computer's specs:
It's a Gateway FX400X
Windows XP Media Center
2.80 GHz processor
1024 MB RAM
nVidia 6600 video card
Cable internet connection....dunno what else to mention, so yeah.
Ok, the computer runs great all by itself, with my SIms Online, with all of my kids' programs...just when I load SL, it is nothing but lockups after that. I mean, serious lockups, you can't do anything to the comp but turn it off when this happens. Now, I don't have to be playing the game necessarily. I could just be checking my email in the morning, but since the game is loaded onto my computer...BAM locked up just while checking my email or or even just playing minesweeper on the desktop. There doesn't seem to be any rules to the lock-ups. I got this darn computer cause it was a GREAT way to play SL, and it sure does run the game like a dream, except for the obvious. Now, before any of the normal, piddly stuff is menioned, please know that we have already had gateway reps replace the hard drive once, and have also done all the silly stuff that everyone thinks you need to do when you have a problem. This is a serious issue...just wondering if anyone has a clue, cause the gateway Techs SURE as heck DONT.
