I have just re-installed Windows XP and have the SP2 installed. I am having a crash issue as I posted before.

Secondlife.exe is quitting abnormally and it seems to be doing so on a rather regular basis.

Can I get some help?

I am officially beyond upset right now. there has to be someone else that has had this problem before and has fixed it. I am getting a runtime error

Visual C++ Runtime error:
Secondlife.exe has abnormally quit.

Then when I try to come back all the graphics are screwed and I have to restart my computer to fix it.

Can anyone PLEASE help me?! Otherwise I would like my measily $9.95 back

How long does it take before SL crashes and you see the message? Are you able to log in entirely? Does the crash reporter run? If not, does it run when you restart SL?

What are your system specs? (CPU, motherboard, RAM, video card are most important.) Are you running the latest video and motherboard chipset drivers, downloaded from their respective manufacturers' websites? (IE, the Microsoft video drivers aren't what you want.)

Are you running DirectX 9.0c?

Yes I am able to log into SL completely and I am able to run it for about 10-15 minutes before it crashes. The crash log runs after i try to run Sl again after the crash.

I am using the most up to date drivers for my hardware and Direct X 9.0C

Specs:
Asus A7S333 MB
AMD Athlon 2400+ CPU
256m system memory (PC2700)
(I have another stick of memory but Ithink its slower)
Geforce 3 TI 200 128m VRAM
SB live 5.1
60GB HDD
Windows XP Pro w/SP2

SL keeps a log. It's stored at c:\documents and settings\logged-in-user\application data\secondlife\logs\secondlife.log. Change logged-in-user to the username youre logged in as. There may be some indication there as to why the crash happened.

Also, you can try clearing your cache. That solves some crashes. The cache is at: c:\documents and settings\logged-in-user\application data\secondlife\cache. Delete all files in the cache folder.

I was recently experiencing a crash everytime I enabled AVATAR VERTEX. I traced it down to my NVIDIA STEREO 3d drivers. Once I uninstalled them, no more vertex crash.

Good luck! Dont give up!

vc++ runtime errors

Ive seen this problem happening to quite a few peeps here. I hope someone nails it. Heres something to try:

After a crash, go to Control Panel->;(Classic View->;)Administrative Tools->Event Viewer.
In both the Application log and System log, are there any yellow and red markers? If so, what do they say?

You might also try HIJACKTHIS. It's been known to fix the vc++ runtime error for some people.

http://www.merijn.org/
and you can analyze the log that HJT generates by going here:

Good luck!

Well I had done everything that Live help told me to do. re-installed SP2 updated all my drivers. Now instead of a runtime error My system completely crashed and did a forced Reboot.

I've done everything I can possibly think of to try and fix this. I'll try and get some logs and try cleaning out that cache. Not promising myself anything.

Alright everything is up to date, re-installed service pack 2, and I'm still getting the Visual C++ runtime error: SecondLife.exe has quit abnormally. I've sent in so many logs its not funny.

Also I checked my event viewer and I didn't see anything relating to SL. Looked like a few things I might have done and fixed. I'm completely dumbfounded right now. This makes no sense and its been happening since ver 1.5. I've got everything up to date this is so damn frusterating!
