The point of the login queue IS to freeze the game. Each time it makes use of the queue, it freezes the game. I've yet to see the queue actually function correctly.

Nono...I know what's happening. My client is doing it too. You try to log in, and the game stops responding and it crashes.

Yeah... It did this to me on Sunday, as well. Then everything was fine until now. I've been logging off an on all day, and it's just started happening again. Argh. Wait a sec...AHA! I just logged in! Just keep trying.

I know there's a ton of confusion here, so I'll explain as best I can.
The Login Queue does not lock up Second Life.
When you enter the Login Queue, your Second Life is waiting to complete the communication with the login server and begin actually entering the world. Second Life has NOT locked up during the Login Queue process.
Even if the loading bar isn't flashing, Second Life has not locked up.
Even if Windows says Second Life is "Not Responding", Second Life has not locked up.
If you go ahead and End Task on SL when you think it's locked up (even though it has not), the login server will still process your login request even though you're no longer there (because you forced SL to crash and didn't let it tell the server it's quitting). As a result, the server will still process your old login request. When you try to log in again, you create a new login process which makes you start all over, and your old request makes everyone trying to log in take longer.
Second Life does not lock up during the Login Queue, even if it looks like it has.
You should let the login process continue, even if it looks like it's completely locked up, until it goes back to the Login Screen or gives an error message.
DO NOT FORCE SECOND LIFE TO QUIT. If you do, your login process will take even longer than before, and you'll add more load to the login server that causes everyone trying to log in to take even longer.
The login process will be dramatically streamlined for 1.6, which we hope to have out very soon.
Thanks for reading!
