Along with so many others my game is still crashing on tp'ing and I am unable to cross a sim crossing. I am grasping at any help I can get, but I do see in the forum so many unanswered threads regarding this problem. Maybe tho, some one just might see something that might be able to help or advise me what I could do to rectify this problem.
I am running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1 Buid 2600) Processor : AMD Sempron(tm) Procesor 3000+ MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz 512 MEG of RAM DirextX 9 (4.09.0000.0904) Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce 7600 GS DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_02E1&SUBSYS_34281458&REV_A2 Display Memory: 256.0 MB Current Mode: 1152 x 864 (32 bit) (60Hz) Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll Driver Version: 6.14.0011.6218 (English) DDI Version: 9 (or higher) Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: 6/29/2007 00:43:00, 5690624 bytes

With 512 megs of RAM and a 1.8 gig CPU you are right on the edge being able to log in at all. Only suggestions I can make are the obvious ones. In your preferrences (SL log in page) turn down all your sliders to nothing more than about 1/4 range. Make sure you have nothing running in the background (like email checkers, instant messaging, virus scans actively scanning, any browsers, or other programs that are not esential to the operation of your computer. Check nVidia for an updated driver and install it if there is one. Do a spy/maleware scan and delete any found. Do a cold boot (power cycle) on your DSL/cable modem and router (if you have one). If you are on a home network refresh your IP to your network (you can find the wizard in "My Network Places" . With the specs you presented it seems your computer is a couple years old (not a problem really). So maybe it's time to take the sides off your case and get a can of compressed air from your local office supply store (or computer store........Best Buy even) and blow the dust and debris out. You could be experiencing the early stages of overheating. SL puts your computer to work.........really hard. And all that work causes heat inside the case. Dust does nothing but aggrevate any heat build up inside a computer. Basically, I think your computer system is so close to the edge of not being able to run SL at all that any little thing causes a crash. Sorry to sound so negative but SL is one big power and memory hungry program. If you could get maybe another 512 megs of RAM you would likely have a much better time playing in the world.

From: Peggy Paperdoll With 512 megs of RAM and a 1.8 gig CPU you are right on the edge being able to log in at all. Uh, hardly. The recommended memory and speed for machines are that. The minimum is 256 meg of ram. This is unless they've changed the client spec page in the last two weeks.

I've always maintained that LL's minimum requirements are rather optimistic. Sure some may be able to run SL with the minimum........but most will not. It's like Vista's minimums.......sure it's possible, but it's not likely to get satisfactory results. It depends on what you have running on your computer at the time you are playing on SL. It depends on how well your computer is maintained. It depends on how old your drivers are. It depends on past abuses that have been inflicted on the machine. It depends on how full your hard is..........and how often you defrag. Does the computer have spyware on it.........a trojan, a virus.
So many variables.........no blanket statement can be made like: "Oh my computer is at minimum requirements and I run SL just fine". The processor/motherboard/power supply/ driver version/OS version/hard drive read-write speed/the hard drive size/the percentage of free space...........and any other variable you can think of. When you are at or near the bottom of what will work it takes next to nothing going afoul to bring it all to a halt.
A realistic SL minimum appears to be somewhere around a 2 gig CPU, 1 gig RAM, nVidia GC at 7200 or better, a HD spinning at 7200 rpm or better, a recently defragged drive, a drive with at least 25% free space available, and a case with lots of fans. Will SL run on anything less? Of course it will..........but my belief is that if you have less than what I've stated you are subject to problems. More problems than others that meet or exceed my revised minimums.
I'm no tech expert........but I do know SL is a very graphic intensive program. It requires a lot of horsepower to run. The listed specs for minimums are way low to get satisfactory results for most.
