Hello. I, and several other users are having trouble with SL tonight. Several times during our game play, the game randomely freezes, and we have to log off to fix it. It's only been happening since the update.

To check and see if it was my computer, I went to a friend's house that plays, and he has a brand new computer. He was also booted a few times.

So, tonight I went to a club, and asked some people there if they are having the same problem, and they said yes, they are too. I've already been booted three times today, and have never had this happen before. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks so much.

If this is posted in the wrong forum, I apologize, I've never had a technical issue before this. Just let me know the right forum to post in, and I will.

If there's a new bug, we need to know, so thanks for bringing it to our attention. I hope you've all filed bug reports, with as much information as you can give us about what you were doing when you crashed so we can try to repro it.

I'll move this thread to the Technical Discussion forum so anyone else having this problem can give us more information.

If you have shadows turned on, try turning them off, im trying to track down why that is crashing the client, i have found some places where it will crash, but so far not found a reason.

It does help to also know exactly what's happenning; most notably, is it crashing or simply quitting with an error message?

I will file a bug report - I didn't think about that.
I will also make sure my shadows are turned off, but I think they already are.
What SL does is while I am playing it, it freezes. I can still see im's and chat, but I can no longer chat, IM, or move. So I have to log out, and then log back in to fix it.

I can't even log in. I spent a good ten minutes stuck at "entering region" before I finally gave up.

Does the world turn grey, or not? Can you rotate your avatar but not walk?

If those answers are "no" and "yes", your internet security software (Norton/McAfee) is likely to blame.

Yes sounds like some form of partial disconection from sim, the shadow bug just causes a full client to freeze so its doesnt sound like that.

As well as checking firewall etc as lee mention check your stability of internet connection, if your dsl or cable is dropping even for a brief amount of time this will cause the same effects.

I've had some thunder round here over last few days which has caused adsl drop and partial disconnects with map going red, even though the dsl is back up within 20 secs sl doesnt seem to recover from you loosing connection even if you have a fixed ip

That's happened to me too. I can see chat and see other people move around. But I myself cannot move or chat. Everything looks as it should.

Nothing more than the stock Windows Firewall, I'm pretty sure.
