Been doing some very unscientific observation analysis of my sim performance relative number of peeps inworld.
Last night was a good night to note the difference between an average number of residents inworld and a peak demand.
Normally, at around 3,000 to 4,500 inworld count, the sim rocks along with great FPS and other performance metrics. FPS can range from high-20's to well over 40, depending on where I am in the sim. Of course it goes off the chart at sim's edge when overlooking the noththingness.
Last night, I logged on and there were over 7,000 residents inworld. My overall observation was nearly an overall 10 FPS loss and an occassional Time Dilation burp when the sim 'updated' per normal.
This morning, 4,500 inworld count and everything is back to the higher performance stats.
Same system, same SL Client, same cable connection.... nothing changed on my end.
No, it is not "my connection". I routinely check that with Speakeasy.

I guess it could be due to the 'weakest link" factor and San Francisco's generally overloaded and problemmatic backbone network. We have all see the huge packet loss that often hits that end of a traceroute.
Anyway, could there be a connection between inworld performance, overall grid load, and LL's ability to service the membership and usage growth they are promoting via the new registration campaign? Is it time for LL to expand it's number of ISP's to increase access and spread the load? Appears they run about 15 at any point in time.
Dunno...... Just some observations and thoughts.
