Crashing / rebooting at complete random

I installed the game today and have tried to play 5 times. Each time the game and then my computer have crashed completely and rebooted itself with a scandisk. It has done this no matter where I am in the game - in orientation or trying to customize myself.

I meet system requirements very easily:

WinXp Home Edition with 640 MB RAM, 1.66 gh processor. My graphics card is NVidea GForce FX 5200. (drivers, etc are all current)

The random crash/reboot is also why I haven't tried the live chat. Shadows are turned off and I've turned down some of the other settings as well.

Any thoughts/ suggestions? I was thinking about just trying a new download/ install since that's worked for odd things before in the past.

Not a bad idea, reloading clears up a lot of problems. Be sure to turn off Nortons anything while installing. Are your motherboard and sound card drivers also up to date?

You need to make sure Local Lighting is turned off and shadows as well. To be honest, you need to turn everything off or down, at least at first.

The good news is there are no Norton's products on my computer. And yes, all the drivers are up to date.

roll back your graphic driver .... okies it worked for me ...

Release Highlights:

ForceWare 78.01 adds support for GeForce 6500 only. There are no additional driver updates in 78.01 since 77.77.
SLI support for GeForce 6600 and GeForce 6600 LE
New SLI rendering mode (SLI Antialiasing) for increased antialiasing performance
Broader SLI optimizations and validation for the latest games
Resolved SLI Antialiasing issues with some applications and generating screen shots. For a full list of other issues resolved, please view the driver release notes.
Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0c and OpenGL® 2.0 support

So aparently ... only get the update if you have a Geforce 6500...... other card dont need this update ...

i down graded now in in sl with woith no troubles .. and sl stau my hardware is ok now
