Linden Labs,
Please take the grid offline and fix it. Having it be online right now is only causing trouble and getting complaints from everyone. I know you probably don't want to give a days worth of tier to all of your subscribers, but I personally would rather have the grid come down for an extended period of time, while you fix it, and then have it come back up with in good condition, and not have to worry about if it's going to be crappy today.
I've lost count of all the times I've heard people lose things, and scripts and such reverting half a day back or so. Thats a lot of work for the people who purchased these items, or made them, only to have to make / purchase them again. The quality of the SL metaverse at the moment is deplorable. All throughout this month it's been nothing but setback after setback for me. I'm making slow progress, but it seems like two steps forward, one step back. And it honestly seems that when it's at it's worst, every aspect other than being up and online, is disabled, broken, or takes so long that it gets stuck.
So, I'm begging you. Take it offline and fix it, please. You'll be doing yourselves and everyone else a favor.

p.s. Please bring back a place for us to register complaints like this one. I feel like residents are being "silenced" as of late by not having a proper avenue for communication.

I really hate having to complain on the forums, dont think Ive posted on the forum in over a year or more. However the current state of SL makes me feel compelled to jump in somewhere and hopefully get one more voice in among the masses. Ive been here for three and a half years and this is easily, hands down the worst performance from SL and the worst performance from Linden Labs technical support I have ever seen. Every single night now for more than two weeks their have been such severe issues at LL (asset server or networking I assume) that for many people, any kind of development or work is difficult at best, and often futile since our work will not save, will revert, or will simply never make it to our inventory. SL frankly has become almost useless between the hours of 9:00PM and 2:00 am SL time. I (as are many other LL clients) am sick to death of hearing that "the issue has been resolved" or "is on the mend". It is patently obvious to anyone that has been online in the last month that it is neither resolved or mended Take the grid down and repair it, fix whatever needs to be fixed, replace whatever needs replacing in short, address the issue. Please don't simply tell us everything is ok when we all fully expect and know it will go bad again like clockwork the next night. From: NeoBokrug Elytis p.s. Please bring back a place for us to register complaints like this one. I feel like residents are being "silenced" as of late by not having a proper avenue for communication. I second this... communication is ever increasingly a one way street with LL. You built your company from day one on the involvement of your clients in your product. Yet now it seems ever harder and harder to communicate in a meaningful way with anyone in the company. This isn't the SL I've known, more importantly its not the LL Ive come to know and respect.

Well, I agree with you folks that LL is having some serious problems... but I have to ask, how do we know that taking the grid down for a few days would really help matters? I think what's really needed is a fairly major overhaul of some of the basic underlying systems of SL so that they'll scale better. I know that they're doing exactly that, because, in the past few months, I've seen some major changes/reorganizations with phrases like "this is a redesign of one of the major bottlenecks in our system" or "this will remove one of the biggest time-intensive queries on our database". Taking the grid down for a few days won't help them write that any faster, I don't think. A month or two might help, but I really don't want to see SL down for that long.
I'm not trying to be an LL apologist here at all... I just want to look at the reality of the situation. What sounds like a common-sense solution may not be a solution at all.
