I know one of you tech heads has dished out $600 + for one of these babies so give us mere mortals a glimps of Olympus. Does it even work with SL?

Go outside. Drive or walk around. If any of your neighbors has installed one of these, they most likely own a new 8800 GTX. :D

Someone must have bought one cuz.. they are gone. Every retailer I have checked is out of stock. Well probably not out of sock for real, the ten in the warehouse are waiting for the price to hit $1000 since everyone else is out now.

Its still too early. Its a DX10 card, but there are few if any DX10 enabled games to play at the moment. I'll wait until the 8600 series cards come out.

Well, one reason they are expensive is that they out perform two of the top of the line 7xxx series cards in SLI mode. Two 7900 GTX cards will cost over $1000 so an 8800 with higher performance for $700 makes sense to those with bottomless pockets.
