When I signed up for Second Life the Resident Referral field on the signup page was prefilled with Schwanson Schlegel. What is up with that?

Did you follow a link from Schwanson's signature or web-page somewhere?

No, I didn't follow a link from anything Schwanson related. I went to www.secondlife.com
and clicked on the Download Second Life Free 7 Day Trial link.

its the cookies. Its happened more than once where another piece of software (or another webpage) has written a cookie to someones' machine relatig to the second life login, prefilling the referrer's name. This basically only happens if you use internet explorer with lax security settings, or have running spy/adware but it is a problem and i wish LL would go after the people who do things like that more aggressively.
