hi there!

for pretty long now (realised it about 3 month ago) the debug console of SL for windows brings up a bunch of error messages about the utf-8 font arialuni.ttf missing several times.

i was wondering why that font isnt checked for existance during setup and installed if not found. sure its a pretty huge file, but what's a 20MB font file compared to a 1GB cache ;-)

the font itself is free for personal use and actually cant "hurt" windows really, it actually might solve some other problems windows has with utf-8 featured application, websites, etc and some SL problem with letters showing up totally messed or such might be caused by that missing font too.

the font can be found here - some further infos about utf-8, unicode and the font issues with it are here.

cheers!

Asked them about 3 times now to add this to download page, and nothing, zzzz,. about the time SL started to allow unicode .

oh! did a search on forum but only with default settings. not going that far back into the past as i didnt expect the issue to exist that long already.

anyway ... who want to get away that message and the letter messup chaos SL sometimes shows on windows ... and perhaps get rid of some other strange behavior of windows related to unicode ... download-link for the font is in this threads first post.

just drop the arialuni.ttf into your windows font folder - most likely c:\winnt\fonts or c:\windows\fonts - and you are done.

cheers!
