After updating my Second Life client, I proceeded to start the program as usual and tried to log on. It sat at the "Logging in, Second Life may appear to be frozen please wait". I waited for about 5 minutes before it came up with the "Despite our best efforts, etc" error. I am curious to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem and I am curious to know what might be the cause of this problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same exact issues as you are. Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do about it, but wanted to post so you know you are not alone with this issue.

I had the same problems, and I often do when there is an update. So what I do is remove SL completely from my PC and download the new version direct from the site and then it works. I just did and it worked I think it might be because some stuff overwrites itself when you get the pop-up update, not sure, but anyways do that and I am 99% positive you'll be able to log in! G'luck.

G'luck. I thought of that but unfortunately, that did not work. The first error message I recieved before I reinstalled the client was it was unable to make a secure connection to the server and to check to make sure my time and date settings were correct.

Hey folks. After most upgrades and the grid goes back online, there is a flood of people usually trying to get back on the main grid and it can seriously congest the login server. The basic idea is... keep trying, there's probably just a mass of people in the same boat too. ;D
