I'm very anxious to find out if anyone out there has managed to run SL with the ATI mobile RADEON IGP 345M? Or if anyone has any suggestions? The program will start but not run very long before crashing. I updated with the latest drivers for my machine. (bout 8 months old now) Just walking around is fine, but changing appearance or any other taxing job will cause a crash. I wonder if there is a third party driver out there that makes the card work? I'm not the most tech savvy guy around.. but it does not appear to me that OMEGA makes a driver for me... my system... Compaq Presario 2500 notebook ATI mobile RADEON IGP 345M pentium 4 2.2 ghz memory 512 windows xp with service pack 2 and all updates to the best of my knowledge. Thanks so much!

The Radeon 345M IGP is based on the Radeon 7000 chipsets, meaning it's not compatible. I haven't heard yet from a resident that got the 7000s to work. They just don't support the rendering standard we use on a hardware level.

The only problem i saw with the 7000 is bad frame rate, everything else is perfect.

Congratulations... unfortunately, that's a rare exception from what I've seen. (I cover a lot of the support emails.) Most 7000 users crash the second they finish logging in.
If you can get a new card at some point in the future, I'd suggest it... since we improve Second Life with a minimum platform in mind, there's a good chance we could make a small innocent change in the future that just flat-out breaks the setup you have going now. (We've had a handful of Intel Extreme users with this problem; sometimes Windows updated their drivers from a "it kinda works" version to a "doesn't work at all" version.)

I don't know the differences, so I can't tell you if this is significant or not, but I run SL all the time on the ATI RADEON IGP 340M (not 345M). I use the Omega drivers, which fixed a lot of the problems I originally had with the original ATI drivers.
