I keep getting stuck at "Verifying Protocol Version". I updated my Firewall with the port and IP's for SL and still no luck.

You should probably email support@secondlife.com. They have, quite likely, encountered this problem many times and likely know what is happening at each stage of login, so they will probably have a streamlined series of suggestions to make to resolve this problem.

The only (weak) suggestions I can offer are:
- Try on another computer
- Try running SL in windowed mode to see if anything is popping up firewall-wise
- If you have had SL running successfully in the past, try uninstalling, clearing all SL files, and re-installing.

Sorry I can't offer better suggestions. I do hope you can get it sorted out. :(

So far, the only time I have seen that particular error it was an indication that the sim I was trying to enter was either crashed or about to crash. Or the entire grid was being shut down. I could usually wait a bit for the sim to be restarted, and could get back on without doing anything at my end.
