Low FPS After Patch

Yea I used to play Second Life avidly a few months ago and I just didn't have time so I stopped playing right around the time of the first big patch. Now, after a whole bunch of smaller patches, my previous 25-40 FPS has dropped down to a game hindering 6-13. I have not changed any options (UP at least I've now turned some down) but its no help. Whats wrong with this new patch?!?!?!?

My system:

AMD Athlon 2600+
Radeon 9600 Pro 256Mb
512Mb Ram

Pretty much all that matters in this case.

Anyone?

I get those 50+ FPS in sims with little object, and little people...but never get those in populated sims with lots of buildings.

I had the same video card as you, but 3GHz Intel pentuim 4 and 1.5G of ram...and 15FPS is normal, 6 FPS is very normal in a group of 10+ people....and like above 50+ FPS is I am alone in the middle of the ocean..lol

So from your system and 6-15FPS sounds pretty normal to me..so don't see anything wrong at all..

I now run a X850XT video card, still get about 15FPS in SL, but can easily get 40+ FPS in any other game...but then SL does not have static renders, as they have to re-draw all the time, as things can and do change often...so 15FPS is normal.

Yes those figure look about right for that card, although not an ati expert, 9600 is a slightly cut down version of the 9800 and 9800 pro. Things i have seen in the last few months are the more complex builds expecially those available as prefabs, also the amount of people actually trying building for themselves is encouraging although may leave prim blocks floating somewhere if its snapped off somewhere lol, but the particle effects puffs/bling has been a new thing of recent, which i guess the popularity of those have replaced the fix with the linking of attached prims ie the old hoochie hair thing lol.

Personally i have a nvidia 6800GT and thats around 25-35 in a loaded area and climbs to 100fps in an empty sim. draw distance is 160, anti aliasing is on, shiny too.

Athlon 64 3500+
1Gb ram
