I’m in the unfortunate position of not being able to log in for the last 7 hours.!! I live in the UK and conncetion has never really been a major issue before. I was ok up till 11am PST, then got booted off whilst trying to complete a vendor space in a mall. Since then i have desperately tried to log on only to have this following message “Second Life cannot be accessed from this Computer”
I have rang Customers Services twice, they say the average hold time was between 5-6 mins, i went round the loop for 14 mins each time before forced to leaving a message providing my details. Needless to say after 3 hours no one from Linden Labs has contacted me either via email or telephone.
Initially, i managed to connect to the BETA grid hoping to make contact with Lindens that way. I sent an IM to Help request on 2 occasions……needless to say…..No reply! I have since lost the connection to the BETA grid as i’m caught in this loop of having to Download the latest version of BETA repeatedly without ever being to log on!
i also send a message to Support from this website…….yep, you’ve guess it! No Reply!
So i’m basically stuck in limbo land. I have a SIM arriving today that i can’t access to, i have shop which i’ve just started paying rent for but unable to to install my products and similarly with another mall that is clocking up rent for an unused space.
I have spent a hell of a lot of money in this game and will be paying Linden labs nearly $100's a month in Tiers…..I deserve a hell of a lot better treatment than this!!!!
Linden Labs really needs to get its shit together if it wants to be taken seriously. This has become a Mickey Mouse operation. Right now, I’m extremely angry and very frustrated!
Bottom line i would not feel so bad, if someone from LL Customer services would just communicate and let me know what is happening or they are looking into it….at least then i know its being dealt with! The silence and non-replies has been the most frustrating part of today. I can honestly say i’ve tried every avenue to contact SL
Any sugestions regarding the “Second Life cannot be accessed from this Computer” I've downed my Firewall and disable any antivrus programs for now....has made no difference.

Quick question, since you seem to be able to access the beta grid at one point, have you tried reinstalling the regular cilent or using the first look client(if it works on your computer) from the website?

Yep, i also installed the First look client thereafter....got the same message. I daren't uninstall my main viewer thought and then re-install, as i'm worried about losing my inventory that way.
Just want Linden to respond or some I.T orientated person to provide some advice.

Your inventory is stored server side so removing and reinstalling won't have any effect on it. I would uninastall and then go and manually make sure that all traces of the SL client have been removed, delete the directories completely and then reinstall.

Create an alt, log the alt in. If that doesn't instantly log the real you out. Try IMing yourself. It works sometimes. Good luck Edit : If that fails try this trick as a go around ... RUN TWO CLIENTS AT ONCE Running two instances of Second Life is possible but will hit your computer hard so is not recommended.. Both should be run with the following command (you can use the Windows.. Run.. command or amend a copy of the shortcut). "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -port <number here> -multiple Unless your router is very clever, you'll need a different port number for each instance you run, use numbers from the range 13000 - 13050 only. You can also add.. '-login <username> <password>' if you wish.

Hi Threshin
Its funny you should reply in here as it was whilst in your shopping mall working away to set up my Vendor Space that i have since disappeared off the face off of SL earth! -lol
i tried the uninstall and re-installing the program and deleting all related files as Ravanne suggested..... still can't logged in.
I had a friend come round and create his own profile and account on Second Life from my computer - did not like that either!!!
I also paid for an ALT (and i'm against using ALTs by the way). that did not work either.
I repeatedly get "Second Life cannot be accessed from this Computer" It seems it doesn't matter what account I use for SL or whoever uses it, anything from this specific computer seems to be blocked by Lindens.
Whats more frustrating they don't tell you why they did that.....they don't reply to IM's or emails or phonecalls. Similarly like Andy Sao in a previous thread.....I've had to resort to sending an email direct to their CEO Philip Linden to try and get some sort of response
To be honest this whole experience is really very 2nd rate!

Have you checked your firewall settings and your anti-virus settings?

Hmmmm.. Okay, I don't know how much help it will be, but I'll try Help Request from inside. Fingers crossed
Edit : Ummmm... Okay, help request is completely inaccessible. Not giving up though

thanks for your help Threshin
I managed to get in after 26 hours, after having sent Jack Linden and his chiefs 2 emails. No apology though nor an adequate explaination. Anyway i'm in and i managed finishing up the vendor space at the IOL Mall.

From: Threshin Barnett You can also add.. '-login <username> <password>' if you wish.
Unfortunately, as handy as that looked, it doesn't work. I get the "Logging in, 2nd life may appear frozen" msg, then I'm back to desktop.

From: Saucey Barbecue Unfortunately, as handy as that looked, it doesn't work. I get the "Logging in, 2nd life may appear frozen" msg, then I'm back to desktop. But after the 5th try, after only changing to the General tab of the shortcut, it works! GO SL!
