I am getting this bitmap "Slyck Guides" appearing in odd places, such as where the thumbs up icon should be in the window I am using to compose this post.

Anyone have any idea what this is about?

Very odd, it is there again. I just ran Spybot a little while ago.

Well, better it be a problem in my computer than the one the forum is on.

Seeing a thumb. Sounds like a bad URL redirect.

Easy way to test if you're on XP: open up C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc, then open the "hosts" file in any text editor. If it has a lot of entries in it that you know nothing about, have a good look.

Syntax is:
Site Used, Site called by Browser

Example:
127.0.0.1 www.secondlife.com

(Which would redirect calls to secondlife.com in ANY browser on your PC to whatever 127.0.0.1 is)

-----------

Also, check whatever that tool it was you were using in your browser (Firefox?) not long ago to blank the Second Life image at the top of the forum. May be related.

Good memory. The Adblock extensioni was in Firefox, I am getting this effect while using Opera.

Well, it's is gone now, following a reboot.

I don't have a host file named host with no extension except for the sample one in the C:\WINDOWS\I386 directory, which isn't active and has only the example in it.

Problem solved, I suppose. I guess I over reacted. I don't want anything going wrong with the forum computers. I remember the deletion of the entire scripting forum quite clearly.

Hi, all. Glad you solved the problem. This sounded more like a technical glitch. So I'll move it over here to this forum. Thanks.
