Hello all,
I"m running Vista, and when I log in to SL, it gets to the message that says "still dowloading clothing, residents will see you normally"... Then i click "OK" and the whole SL login window disappears, and the crash report request window pops up.
I've downloaded all the drivers for this computer model. I feel like a complete goof, I am a Windows 2000 user and I can't even seem to find out what the graphics card is on this damn Vista puter! The computer should recognize it's there, because i'm obviously using the computer. There was an installation disk with drivers on it, and i even tried to use those driver updates. No dice, same problem.
I'm not even sure it's a video drivers issue or something else.
Any thoughts?

try start->settings->control panel->system
you should find some info there.

From: Randal Kline try start->settings->control panel->system
you should find some info there. Vista doesn't have settings on the start menu. Under start\control panel\System and Maintenance\System, it lists everything BUT the graphics/video card. Not trying to be obstinate, just getting reeeeely frustrated.

I get the same thing on a Dell M2010 Laptop with X1800 ATI vidoe card. Draws a black screen and just before it displays the login fields it crashed.
I have tried setting the shortcut properties to wun in XP capatibility and running as administrator but didn't help.
Would be good to know if this is the video drivers, Vista, or SL.

Intel G965 vid card wont work, Ati/Nvidia only.
Yes you might get a unsupported vid card to work, count your days cause it will shut you eventually SL change and then usually that flips vidcard. --- Ati and Vista does not work with SL , their opengl driver need alot more work , theyre way behind nvidia. No nvidia should have issue with SL/vista, just dont come with a old mx440 nvidia and expect that to work >.< Both cards tend to get "drivers out of date" ..blabla, we all get that with SL now and then -__-

Not trying to be obstinate, just getting reeeeely frustrated. er...i am using vista, start-control panel-system-device manager will reveal your hardwares.
