I have geforce 6800 gfx card running under windows 2ooo SP4 and I can't see some avatars (not even the name tag), or I only see some parts of the avatar (like the hair, or belt). The person can stand right in front of me (I see green dot on the map) and I see no avatar. I've tried several versions of drivers (66.93, 67.02, 71.24) but all show the same behavior. The odd thing is, if the invisible person switches to changing appearance, I can suddenly see the avatar.
I've also fiddled with settings in preferences, acceleration setting in windows... nothing. SL support suggested to delete cache and reinstall SL, which I did, but the problem persists.

Heh. This is actually a weird bug in SL.
Know what works as a temporary fix? Change -your- title to something else (then back again if you so choose).
It works. Weird, but it works.

how strange...
with show updates active (Debug -> Show Updates) when you change your group title, you can see you receive full updates (red puffs of smoke) from all the objects and avatars around you...

20 or so group changes a session gets a bit annoying. Plus I only change groups when I know there is someone I can't see. There's no way to know how many people I am really not seeing. Reporting this bug is over and over is quite time consuming. If they can't fix the bugs, maybe we could at least get a customizable speed-bug report maker?
