Is there something wrong with the trafficcount last days?
The trafficnumber as showed in the about land tab and as used for the search
shows already for 3 days the sametraffic amount. Did anyone else notice the same
problem?

How is traffic calculated?
07-25-2007 06:26
Hello, can anyone outline how trafic is calculated? Is the number ever reset to zero? What time span does traffic represent?
Thanks |

Yep, I track traffic regularly in spreadsheets and it has been the same today and yesterday, and was the same Monday and Tuesday, and the same over the weekend. It updated on Monday morning, and Wednesday morning. They need to fix this crap.

It's going to be removed anyway, maybe this is the first signs it's about to go.

If something is falling apart in SL its surly removed instead of being worked on,but then again traffic is a future thats useless anyway, hight traffic = camping places
Hopefully they will just remove this useless thing. They like to make new bling to client only to show it into debug instead of having it as a option or god forbid make it usefull. Reflective shiny Renderglow Shiney Alpha ..ect... |

another day of frozen traffic. LL says (support chat) they know the prob, but thought they fixed it yesterday. nothing happened. same figures for 2 days now.
anyway, either implement a new search or fix the problem, but current situation is most unfair. |

Hello, can anyone outline how trafic is calculated? Is the number ever reset to zero? What time span does traffic represent? Thanks LL has never released the algorithm for traffic calculation, but they have said that an avatar has to dwell for 5 or more minutes per day for their visit to count towards traffic. Also, they stated that anything over 5 minutes doesnt add to the traffic, i.e. 5 min or 5 hours counts the same. I"m guessing it has to do with the number if people dwelling over 5 minutes and the concurency, or total number of people on the land at a given moment. |

Also, they stated that anything over 5 minutes doesnt add to the traffic, i.e. 5 min or 5 hours counts the same If that is true, camping would be nonsens. I found this in the SL History Wiki: Every user gets a set number of traffic points to give out during the 24 hours between midnight and midnight. Any parcel of land that the user spends more than 5 sequential minutes on gets counted as a place that they spent time. [Separate] parcels owned by the resident (or group) are counted as if they were the same parcel. The user's points are then evenly divided between those parcels. So, if I was online for 1 hour and spent 20 minutes on resident A's parcel and 40 minutes on resident B's parcel, resident A would get 33% of my points and resident B would get 66%. Alternately, if I only spent 5 minutes online and spent all of it on resident A's land, she would receive all of my points. |
