Secondlife keeps forgetting all my local preferences, including my login data, help popups and everything you can change in the preferences dialog.
It looks like this started happening when I updated to 1.11, but I might've skipped an update as I've been away for a while. I tried reinstalling several times (and deleting any temporary files I could find aswell), but that didn't help at all.
Any ideas?

im having the EXACT SAME problem, so i understand how frustrating it is, and i am afraid there is nothing we can do but wait.
-One question tho; does your "C:/Documents and settings/FOLDERNAME" contain a non-US character in it? such as "éèê" ?
i know mine does have an "é" inside my "FOLDERNAME", furthermore, when i create a alternate Windows account without any non-US character in it, SL seems to keep my settings when i log out. so i am presuming it has something to do with SL not beeing able to understand where to save the settings you apply because of some silly character inside your main windows account folder name.
just my two L$

Yes, mine has an é in it aswell.. So does my user account. Sounds like you could be right, I hope one of the devs sees this soon.

As a temporary workaround, I created a special user "SecondLife" and am now using CPAU to launch SL in that account. My shortcut looks something like this: C:\WINDOWS\CPAU.exe -u SecondLife -p "<some weird password here>" -ex "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -lwp

wow this actually work Steven and it wasnt that hard. thanks for the info i wont have to log in another account anymore to play SL. this is a odd solution but i think it is more reliable then waiting for ll to fix it soon with all the other stuff they have in their hand .. in any case, thanks Steven Steps 1. download CPAU.exe ( http://www.joeware.net/win/free/tools/cpau.htm) 2. create an alternate windows user account with all privilege and without any non-us accent in the name, add a easy to remember password too.. something like "a" or something, its not really important to protect this account since its mainly to boot SL 3. drop CPAU.exe in your main "C:/windows" folder 4. make a shortcut of the CPAU.exe you just droped in your window folder, and put said shortcut on your desktop; 5. right clic on your cpau.exe shortcut on the desktop and go into propreties, look for the line called "target" 6. copy/paste this line into the target space. " C:\WINDOWS\CPAU.exe -u ACCOUNTNAME -p "PASSWORD" -ex "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -lwp " 7. replace ACCOUNTNAME with your newly created alternate windows username with all privilege and with no NON-US character in the name, and replace "PASSWORD" with your silly password you added to the new user account, leave the " " in place. 8. double clic the shortcut and voila.
