Dear Linden employees and fellow residents,

I'm not sure what is going on exactly, but since the last few week there hasn't been a single day without any issues regarding the grid functionality. I know the technology is quite complex, and i know the ops are doing what they can.
What amazes me mostly is that it is not improving at all. Once a problem has been resolved, allmost instantly a new (same critical level) problem rises to the surface.

E.g. take a look at today:
A huge problem has been solved, and within a hour or so, a new one emerges, which generates the same type of problem. LOGIN or asset/tp/search problems. It all started like a month or so ago.. each and every single day there are major issues, mosty network related (colocation facility problems), that inflict all of us residents.

I am curious if any of you, reading this has the same feeling/experiences over the last weeks. If so, tell the problems in this thread.

It's not my intention to flame against LL, it's merely a way to discuss the problems and hopefully a good solution. SL used to be quite stable, with like 1 short (in hours) problem a week.. but that time seem to have past now. it's becoming daily.

Maybe LL should try to think of a radical solution for future sake. Technicaly i mean. Another type of network hierachy or something. Maybe moving to another datacenter? just brainstorming.

And LL employers who read this, let's face it.. it currently is not working as should, and i hope/pray for a good solution. It would be terrible if SL dies because of these major (stacking) issues, that causes residents to possibly quit enjoying sl. just think of that, seriously.

best regards,

I have been playing SL for a little over a month and while the level of pleasure is high the degree of technical problems is also high.

I have the following issues that tech support blames on my graphics card drivers. I have recently updated my drivers but cannot confirm if the problem has been resolved since I haven't been able to log in for two days.

1. If I stay in any sim for more than 15 minutes I can't port out. I get the system disconnect and have to re-log. After re-logging I can then port.

2. I can never port out of my home by myself. I always have to ask a friend to send me a teleport.

3. I cannot save note card or upload any data from my home computer. I get "the system has encountered unexpected difficulties, try again later" When I ask what these difficulties are, I am told to update my graphics drivers. I can however, upload and save in the "Abyss" and at "Dominant Encounters" between the hours of 11pm SLT and 2am SLT.

4. Currently can't log on with the following error message "no_inventory_host"

/me nods.

I came back to the game after some time off, and it seems to be worse that it was when I left (around summer). But - we had quite some problems before, I remember some period I think it was March or April, when you had to pray that login would work or be stable - prolonged maintenance downtimes and the like added to that bad feeling. At other times SL ran smoothly for me over weeks, and as I was told, it was quite stable for some time the last weeks (except for common probs like client crashing....).
Unfortunately I restarted my life in a bad timing, but hopefully it will work soon again.
As for the figures: they state that >41.000 people were in. I guess they are wrong, especially as the latest blog entry doesn't show up in the client as well - if the asset servers have problems (as they had before some time ago), almost nothing won't work, and as they are very central to all the sims (decentralization was discussed but seems to be questionable), about all would suffer.
So don't grumble - cry a little, ok (I did), but then ... look for a good glass of wine, wasn't there that book you wanted to read for some time, and hmmm I guess I can solve that sudoko. And the cat purrs as you crawl its fur softly, glad you finally turned your attention to it again :)
