Hi all,
I build houses in SL and today I had a strange thing happen with a customer and a build of mine. They sent me a message saying that their house suddenly had a crack in it. They tried rerezzing it several times and saw the same thing. I went over to look, thinking that maybe it was an issue where it was too low into the land, but it was on flat land and and easily high enough.
I had them derez it and rez again, and waited a bit and then left, telling them to IM me if it happened again. About 5 minutes later, it did. The section of the house was not prim drifting over a bit, it was not moving up or down because of the land, it was overlapping and shifting.
I had him rez one on my sim and one on his. I also had someone stay on my sim to see if it cracked. After I had him set the one up on his land, I ported back and saw a large crack in the one on my sim. However, the person that I had stay there, saw no crack at all. We even exchanged pics. The house looked fine on hers and cracked on mine. Then she ported out and back in and she saw it.
Is there some new bug with the old viewer? Is there a new bug that shifts sections of linked objects suddenly? I have seen prims drift a bit but not like this.
Has anyone else seen anything like this today?

Object slider on top on both?, you can get cracks very easy if they arent at some camera distance , is it 2 alpha`s that overlap eachother?

Has some hacker 'cracked' the SIM code?

I have seen sections of a link move to produce a crack when the section is rotated 180 degrees. For example, say I need two right triangle pieces for a horizontal roof section. A right triangle is made and placed into position, then copied. Next, I rez the copy, rotate it 180 degrees and place it into position. Then, link the pieces to the main build and continue rest of build. Later, the rotated right triangle will be shifted just a little, maybe 180.05 degrees. This can happen simply by right clicking the prim and not selecting anything from the pie menu! To fix this, I avoid rotating prims 180 when they can be made without any rotation.
This was or maybe still is a bug, I don't know, but it could be related to your problem.

Thanks to those who responded seriously.
And thanks to the little kids who thought that they would make a joke, too, I guess.
I have seen the issues mentioned, and it isn't drift or the dreaded clicky bug. This was more than one entire section of a large build actually moving without moving the rezzer box and by itself. And the sections aren't moving by .001; it's more like .1 and not just in a single direction.
I just wondered if it was something that others experienced recently. Maybe it is something with the scripts.
Thanks again.

Thank you to those who had real answers, but thanks even more to those who brightened everyone but the OP's day with a little harmless humor.

was building my stairs yesterday, all goes well for like 20 pieces untill i came to the top part...
2nd last: hight 0.200 z-26.800 last part: hight 0.200 z-27.000
look around if it it`s at the right rotation and i see a 0.010 gap??? recheck all the parts for 0.200 hight, all correct recheck all z-axis cordinates, fine aswell relog as that has fixed some glitches in the past, nope, still 0.010 gap???
gave up and just set it to 26.990 and adapted the floor to avoid texture flicker....
