So after reverting to noob hair and shape for no reason, then Friendlist going haywire, I contact Live Help. Dee says clear cache. I do and still see issues with friend list etc.
Now everything crashes, sims are going down and we can't login.
Why is this becoming a constant issue? Have we gone a full week with zero problems ever?
Is it under attack again?? o.O
lol what a joy.

I just got the same message as well. I noticed that I couldn't get any items inside the folders of my inventory to show up. So I logged myself off and when I tried to log back on, I couldn't. WTG Linden Staff. You broke Second Life.. again.

Ahh young grasshopper, meditate with me on your post so that you may learn that the Linden Labs staff did not mean any harm to the grid. The only harm to the grid comes from end users who seek to wreck mayhem and destruction down on the grid. Before I logged out after a "teleporting snaffu" I had noticed the sim to my north and the sim I was in turn a reddish hue in my minimap. Indicating something had gone wrong with the sims. And upon attempting to log back in I find a long delay, further evidence that there is something wrong with the grid. And not by fault of Linden Labs.

Oh i have to say this, with the lindens keep adding more island sims or whatever sure has made the rest of the grid a mess. servers overworking and such... you know cut down on the number of new sims opening up and fix the servers or upgrade them a lil better than they already have... add a couple of asset servers that work together or whatever... geez.. alot of us PAY money to play in this world... seems like the LINDENS are out just to make money off our inconviences...

Seems to me, and this is just my opinion...that the ""attack on the grid" excuse is getting old!!! Its always someone attacking the grid. When ever i play this game, i am amazed by the technical wizardry of it. This leads me to believe the crew at LL is incredibly in tune with the latest greatest technologies...That being said, why is it taking so long to come up with a preventitive measure to stop these "attacks"? If the attacks are to hard or impossible to stop, then why is there no back up servers, so that the people who pay money to play can make use of their service. Seems reasonable enough to me, a system to deal with this type of attack or a back up system. Whats it gonna be... Both would be ideal...But again this is just my opinion... GLTLL in getting the grid up quickly RP

Perhaps the problem isn't the Lindens adding new servers, but a self replicating transpatent ball that is bouncing all over the sims. These things are fast, I can't catch one to see who made it.

Have we gone a full week with zero problems ever? Is it under attack again?? o.O lol what a joy. I've been in SL since version 1.6. It was reasonably trouble free, then along came 1.7 and it was a nightmare..I thought... version 1.8 came along and it was worse yet. Now then when 1.9 came out I didn't have any issues with it..until they started "fixing" it. With each succesive upgrade it has become the worst version yet and since the inception of the first "upgrade" to it I can't remember a week that didn't have downtime and major issues. Personally I am shuderring about the impending release of 1.9.1 as each succesive upgrade seems to add yet more bugs without anything being done to adress the old ones. Ther are building issues I have been reporting since last July under my other account and they STILL have not been adressed. Currently we're having a connection problem with SL and I ahve been told by two different Lindens that they will have someone contact me. I have sent bug reports and never even get an auto response e-mail from them. Our latest issue has been posted about as of about two weeks ago and I have two promises of action and have seen none yet.

Ok, the grid is under attack, once again, as part of an apparantly sustained attack on SL. When will the hours spent trying to clean up the mess by LL staff soon start to outway the time it would have taken to fix the vulnerability in the first place?
I'm ok, personally, I am just missing some quality time on Sunday evening with my family, I can do other things. In fact, I think I will read the forums, listen to some music and get an early night sleep, sounds quite nice come to think of it. After all, I pay no money what so ever to access SL (although I do buy Lindens, not totaly cheap hehe).
On the other hand there are people who are paying upwards of $195/month to maintain a piece of this software, my god they must be furious by now, either that or simply canceling their land. There are a lot of paying customers, LL has a responsibility to them to maintain the security and stability of the their servers. And that isn't a legal responsibility per sa, just a common sense business responsibility to keep the paying customers happy.

Second Life is no longer a small community. With every online community, a small percentage of users try to sabotage it in any way they can. You might recognize them as the hackers repeatedly banned out of World of Warcraft, Ultima Online, or the wall hackers in Counter Strike. This small percentage tends to be relatively constant -- this means that as the total number of legitimate users in Second Life increases, there is a proportional increase in the number of persons who want to destroy Second Life for everyone else.
I fully agree: Linden Labs must come up with some sort of preventative measures, or these grid takedowns are going to become far, far more common. For example, why don't the sims check to see how many objects owned by a user have been rezzed within a recent timeframe? If that is known, then it should be easy for a sim to say, "Script wants to rez a new object? No." And cause the script to halt with an error. The griefer would take out the sim, but would not be able to take down the whole grid.
