Connection on a Timer?

All right, I've got a bit of a problem here and I'm hoping people will be able to help me out. I've done everything I can think of, myself, and I'm beginning to get really distressed over it.

It seems like my connection's on a timer. I get X amount of time, and then, after that time, my ping shoots through the roof (We're talking five digits here) and my packet loss decides to mimic it (Three digits only, but, still). I don't know what to do.

I'm running on a satellite connection on a wireless network. I'm using a Linksys Wireless G router (Two antennae, if it matters), and I'm utterly stumped. Resetting both router and modem gets me another minute or two, but, after that, my problems return.

I can't even tell if it's a modem or router issue, or even if it's on my end.

Does anyone know anything I can do to try and resolve this so I can play without wondering how much time I have left?

Thanks folks!

ok i havnt tried one , but arent satellite connection very very slow ?, you have to tell them to basicly download something for you, then send it to you, wich causes immense ping times?.

Dont know any gamers that use it anyway, what little i read about it didnt sound to good either, download speed could be nice on them but far to slow for things that constant need updates.

It's got its ups and downs, yes, but why would it work perfectly fine and then just up and stop working? If it wasn't going to work, wouldn't it just... not work?

Only reason i can see is that youre trying to download, but SL require a constant download streamed from SL servers, wich chockes on a satellite, can you watch movies from streams internet without this happening?.

~.o anyone out there has satellite with SL speak up :p

From the little I know about satelite it isn't download that is the problem. Its upload.

I looked into it awhile back.Dowload speeds were great. Upload was not much better (and sometimes worse) than dialup.
