landmarks, teleporting, and flying across a sim

Ok excuse me for letting my n00b-ness show with this question. I am sure that I am posting this in the wrong thread but I didn't know if it was actually a technical question so I thought here was good...but I have been having problems with my landmarks.

I teleport to somewhere on my landmarks and it takes me over 1000m away from the area. So I start to fly to wherever I want to go and as soon as I get to the edge of the sim, I am stuck. I can't get off the sim.

As an example, last night I was trying to go to the Plush Shops at E-City, which has a telehub. *I will not go into my SL addiction to shopping to bore everyone..lol* So anyway, I get to a telehub that is over 1300m away. I start to fly and I can't get off the sim I am in.

Anyone know why this is happening?

Flying with attachments triggers that bug. It's been around since... beta.
Try flying without attachments, or flying slower if for some reason you must wear them.
And never cross sims diagonally.

This is normal. When you teleport, you arrive at the telehub that's closest to your destination, which is indicated by a tall, vertical line on the horizon. Just follow that to your destination.

Just a guess, but if there's an empty water sim, sometimes you have to fly around it. If you try to fly through, you'll bounce off an invisible wall. Try opening your big map to look for the best route around.

I wish they'd allow flight over them, but I'm sure there's a pretty good technical reason why that can't happen (yet).

What makes it worse is when I want to go to...Gougen sandbox I think? Depending on where I put my map dot, the "closest" telehub is in Fairchang Island. Nothing against the island, but it's not exactly the quickest way to get to the sandboxes, being that it's impossible to fly through the void.

The other thing that could be effecting you is if the sim is full. If you try to teleport to a sim with a telehub and its full it may be sending you to one thats alot further away and possibly even impossible to get to from. Especially if your trying to teleport to an island.

I spoke to a Linden (in game) about this problem just the other day. Specifically I attempted to fly from the Wixom telehub to Higgins on business. It appears to be flight over water but instead is at the sim edge after flying over Doyle.
He told me you cannot fly past a sim edge and that I should take the long land route around, and enjoy the "sightseeing".

I did not reply then, but my reply is "@#!!@%%!@@**^"

What I wouldn't give for point-to-point Teleporting!

Did he really throw out the "sightseeing" comment? How plastic. For me, a 2 minute chopper flight turned into a 10 minute one because of the way they have land laid out. I can understand if someone screwed up when they planned the place and didn't factor in these types of issues but to have the party line to be to tell people to enjoy the "sightseeing" is pretty weak.
