After days of waiting for a response to my question "Why does a California resident get charged a Foreign Exhange Fee when sending money to the Lindens?", I went to Concierge Chat and asked that question. The answer is: SL now uses a British bank, and if you get charged a foreign exchange fee, that's your card holder's fault, not SL's.

You are in the SAME State as LL and get hit with it? *shakes head and chuckles*

funniest is that its all your bank's fault , 'THEY' are doing this to you. Oh! even more funniest is that you should have known to use the Bank of England to hold your money. Surely they have a branch somewhere in California

Well, it does make sense when you consider SL is global now and LL has to be able to deal with world currency effectively and American banks are subject to ridiculous amounts of regulation that transferring that operation to England can make a good deal of sense. Keeps it out of the jurisdiction of the SEC, Federal Trade Commission and other agencies of the gubment which, for monopoly money people are willing to pay for so they can buy pretend items, it really needs to be. In all honesty, LL needs to move its headquarters to a country a lot less neurotic than the US.
