SL Voice - Microsoft Headset Issue

I just cannot seem to get voice setup correctly. I've got the Microsoft LifeChat LX 3000 Headset and I'm begining to thing SL just doesn't support it.

People can hear me speaking, so the mic works fine. However I can't hear them on my headset. I hear them over my normal speakers; i.e. my sound card.

I don't have this problem with any other voice program; e.g. MSN, Yahoo, etc.

In Windows XP Sound & Audio Devices Properties, under the Audio tab I have my devices set to my Sound Blaster card.
In the Voice tab, I have the devices set to the Microsoft headset. On the hardware test there, the mic & plaback tests work 100%.

In SL Voice Chat tab, both the microphone and playback are set to the headset.

It doesn't work like that though ....
I'm at my wits end here.

I actually have the same problem with my computer... like my mic doesnt work properly when plugged in from the back... but the front ports are perfect for SL. I wish I knew what to say... try running the wizard for your sound and mic outside of SL if you haven't. It helped my issues.

If you installed a bunch of Microsoft software that came with the headset you might try completely uninstalling all of that and then see what you can do with plugging the headset in and installling as little Microsoft software as possible.

Also if you have more than one USB port try changing ports.

Screenshots of the appropriate dialog boxes in Windows and SL that show settings might be useful to folks trying to diagnose the problem.
They aren't hard to make, why not try it?
