I hate to do it this way, but don't know any other way. After downloading the new version and trying to login, it sits at "Verfying Protocol Version" for about 10 seconds then gives me the error "Inable to Connect".

I am starting SL from the Start menu, so I'm not having the new IP problem. Any ideas??

I tried the same stuff Peter, starting SL from the Start Menu and all....no luck either. I even tried a complete reinstall....nothing.

I hope someone looks in here soon.

Tracey or Peter, send a copy of your SecondLife.log file (in C:\Program Files\SecondLife\) to support@lindenlab.com and I'll look at it to see if I can figure out what's going wrong.

In the meantime... here's a shot in the dark -- try pinging login.agni.lindenlab.com and tell me what IP address you get back. I'm wondering whether or not your DNS is getting the right number. It changed this morning, but sometimes it can take a while for the change to make its way around the net.

Ditto on all of the above but I'm going to go into more specifics, just in case someone does come across this posting.

1.) After logging in, the loading bar stops at "Verifying Protocol Version".

2.) After sitting there for about 5 seconds a pop up message says: Unable to connect to server, the system may be down! Please try again in a few minutes.

3.) When I click on the Updater.exe in the properties file I get this response: Please specify the IP address of the userserver on the command line.

4.) The SL log entry states: Send to failed () 63.211.151.20: 12036,
Error 10049

I have been trying to log in for an hour and always get the same response.

HELP Pls
Peter

It appears I've been removed from the support list. Could you send it again to andrew@lindenlab.com? Thx.

No, I coudn't find a smoking gun. This could be the intermitent login rejection problem (i.e. not related to any recent server shuffling), but Peter C said he's been trying for an hour with no luck.

I think some of my colleagues know more about this problem than I do, but they're not here in the office right now. I'll ask them about it tomorrow.

I guess the current solution is to just keep trying, sorry.

Have fun.

I was having a similar problem but it ended up being my firewall....do either of you have firewalls that might not have the correct ports open???

don't forget that if you're using Windows XP Professional (not Home), it comes with a software firewall that's enabled by default...

Hey Gillus,

You hit the nail on the head, I reprogrammed my firewall with the port ranges and IP addresses and all is well, I got on, no prob.

Thanks

Peter

Still having same problem

Hello! My sister is having this same problem and I am trying to help her with it. When we do the ping, we get:

66.150.244.160

Is that incorrect then? I have no way to check her router configs, but everything worked fine before the upgrade and I don't believe anything has changed on that end.
