Hello All!!

I have been trying my hardest to play this game for the past 8 hours. I have installed the game, but when it goes to actually "detect hardware" I get a message telling me I have a generic Graphic card, which is not supported. It claims I need a NVidia Geforce 2 or better to play. well I Have a Nvidia Geforce2 MX400 grapics card so I know for a fact I have right one to be able to play. It tells me I can try to play anyways, but may not run correctly. I attempt to do this and the game wont load at all, I click yes and it tells me it crashed.

I also checked my system, I have everything I need to play this game. 256mb, 1500mhz processor, cable interenet.

I checked some websites for the driver updates, but I cant seem to to find anything that can help. Anyone out there, if you can help me or give me some ideas to connect to this game I would greatly appreciate it!!

Thanks!!

Frankly, Playette, if we do get you up and running, I'm afraid SL won't be all that great an experience with the system you have. I began playing almost a year ago with a 32 MB NVidia card and almost quit. Then I happened to be offered a 128 MB card by a friend and was amazed at the difference it made.

In addition, even though the system requirements state that SL will run with 256 MB of RAM, that won't be much fun either. Take a look at this:

You have 256MB of memory.
Windows XP takes 256MB of memory to run itself.
Second Life takes 256MB of memory (beyond Windows) to run itself.

I recommend a minimum of 512MB system memory to run Second Life properly. Get more if you can. I recently upgraded from 512 MB to 1.5 GB and was literally astounded at what a difference it made.

Ugh...unfortunatly the computer i built from Dell 3 1/ years ago seemed great. I looked at upgrading my memory, but because of the type it is RD Ram, its hella expensive and not readily available like SD/DDR is. I will do some looking around.

If I need to upgrade my grpahics card and memory, maybe I just need a new computer alltogether to run SL.

Looks like im stuck playing tso forever :(

Is my vido card considered one of these "grandfather" cards?
I am going to the site now to see if it helps

I really appreciate you all taking the time to try and assist me in this!!
