Installing the 1.5.6 update deleted the "screenshots" folder under my Second Life program directory, and with it about 500 snapshots I've taken in the month I've been in SL. I didn't see any warning at all during installation that extra folders in the Second Life directory would be deleted.
After an hour of time with a data recovery tool, I've manged to restore most of the deleted files. I'll be saving screenshots to a completely different folder from now on. I sincerely hope I'm the only one who got zapped by this.
LL: some sort of warning that the contents of the Second Life directory are subject to being wiped during upgrades would be nice.

I am not a techie but that is not a good place to store stuff. I would recommend making a new folder for Second Life in the "My Documents" folder. I did that and I keep everything pertaining to Second Life there. I keep a shortcut to it on my desktop for easy access.

Yeah... Never store documents in application folders under Windows. They WILL go poof on you.
