I ran just fine on 1.6, and once I could finally get in around midnight Mountain time, I couldnt stay in for more than 2 minutes (around the time that the world stopped being grey).
Since a casual perusal of this forum reveals this to be a problem for a decent number of people, none of whom had problems prior to the update, some suggestions might be a good idea.
I have seen a few Linden reponses about 'texture caching is better after 48 hours', but does that mean that the servers shake themselves out after two days (!! bad news for us addicts!!), or that after managing to limp along (if, perchance, you can log in) for two days, things just 'get better'?

Yet another sucker crashing every few minutes

I too am crashing every 2-3 minutes, sometimes not even that
I do hope things stabilise and that Linden Labs seriously give some consideration to compensating those residents affected either with some serious advice or compensation for loss of service (Preferably, as a goodwill gesture, both !)

1.7 memory problems
10-25-2005 09:19
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who crashes out every time, usually within two or three minutes. I was running a memory graph utility, (system mechanic 6.) I have 512 meg of RAM and after the crash each time, I saw that the crash happened when I got to down to 0 meg of available ram.

It seems 1.7 may require more memory than I have. Please advise.

I have 1GB of RAM. If it requires more than that, there is a problem...

I also have 1GB of RAM, yet I crash ... usually in less than 60 seconds of logging in. I was able to get in early this morning for a good bit, yet after lunch today I can't stay on. I too had no problems like this with 1.6 :/ As a sim owner, this is extremely frustrating!!
