Blurred Avatar Textures

Very frequently (many times each night) my skin textures and sometimes my clothes textures will become blurry. It's almost like the images are progressive and only half load. No amount of appearance editing, skin swapping or clothes changing helps. I have to relog. A friend suggested I switch to windowed mode and back, or change resolutions. This doesn't help either. The problem is local (other people in-world see my textures correctly). I had this problem on my ATI 9600 Pro card, and now again on my nVidea 6600 GT.

Is this a common problem? If so, is there a way to force a reload of my textures? I have searched the Debug menu for a command to no avail.

Thanks,

well the images are progressive and do only half load. :D that's exactly what you're seeing. sometimes sl has to redownload a texture on your av and that happens but yeah it shouldn't be getting stuck half way. does this happen when you enter new areas or get around alot of new textures (including maybe other avatars)? it might be because of your bandwidth settings but i'm only guessing about that.

I'm not an expert, but I do know that most video cards do not have anywhere near the amount of texture memory that SL demands. It's not uncommon for 500MB worth of textures to be within your viewable area, while many video cards are only able to process 64MB of texture memory. I would imagine your problem is a direct result of this discrepency. Perhaps if you're in an area where your texture processing power is exceeded, your system is choking a bit and giving a lower priority to displaying the textures on your av than to the other textures that are around. Sorry that's not a solution, but it's my 2 cents on the explanation, anyway.

Thank you both for your help.

My system is relatively powerful (2.66 Mhz, 1 Gig Ram, nVidea 6600 GT AGP). Based on your responses, I am assuming this doesn't happen to you. Last night I was online for about two hours and I relogged three times to reset my textures. That is frustrating. I will try to make notes about what actions seem to bring this on, but for now it seems pretty arbitrary. I can be sitting in a chair and all of a sudden see my textures reloading and then they are blurry.

I will also expreriment with my bandwidth settings.

I had this problem too and a Linden from LiveHelp suggested going into appearance and back out which helps with avatar texture loading. I tried it and sure enough he/she was right. Try going into Appearance and back out, it worked for me.
