It's unbelievable how bugged sl is at the moment. But it's not like we didn't expect this to happen. After all Wednesday just passed and we know every Wednesday they add updates which totally screw up the game.
It's one thing after another and more things keep happening.

But on this scale? I've never known it be this bad. After two days, I've given up trying to move around in a world where my surroundings (regardless of sim, despite good fps and no packet loss) take over ten minutes to rez -- most of those objects only bothering to rez because I right clicked and selected edit for each one. I'm pissed at being unable to build anything quickly, not to mention the hell involved when it's finally time to texture. Annoyed that there are so many things I WANT to buy but I'm too scared to trust the system enough to make a single transaction. (Why the L$ remains so strong is a mystery to me.)

Intel P4 3.4GHz (HT 650); 2MB L2 cache with 800 MHz FSB
2048MB DDR2 RAM
ATi Radeon X1600GT PCI-Express graphics (256MB)

That's been more than enough to render the SL metaverse quickly and beautifully for the past four months, so I'd love to know why the system is now on par with my four year old laptop when I login.

/rant over. I guess my patience ran out. :(

Skins and clothing seem to be the worst - I can't even change clothes.

Going into appearance mode doesn't seem to force it any. Teleporting or crossing sim borders seems to have little effect. I hung out with a friend for over an hour last night, and they never saw more than hair, eyeglasses, and shoes.

Granted, they were killer shoes :p but c'mon, this is ridiculous.

Gah, you girls. Way too much shoe choice. :P Did you tell you friend to change her active group? That normally forces other avatars to rez when only their prim attachments are visible. I've fallen into the habit of changing active groups every time I teleport (since the update) because there are always more green dots on the mini-map than visible avatars around me. That always fixes the problem too. :)

Yesterday when the packet loss "meter" was showing high all the time I was getting GREAT texture rezzing.

I wonder if they "fixed" the apparent packet loss problem (I say apparent because I wans't seeing any symptoms of packet loss other than the meter) in a way that makes packet loss less reliably detected, so texture downloads are getting lost instead of retried?

When I got on last night, I joked to a couple freinds that LL had disabled the packet loss meter because it stayed at 0.0% yet things (prims) were taking forever to rez. My whole cabin took over 5 minutes to rez (about 200 prims).

Then when it finally budged, it shot up to 2514%.. umm, shouldn't 100% be total packet loss? 2514% .. does that number forecast future packet loss I will have tomorrow as well?

Seriously..
