What is causing this? When my computer is logged in, my roommate cannot login, and visa-versa... is there a solution?

When I had this problem I updated the drivers for my router and the problem was solved. Don't know if it will help you but it worked for me.

On your router, not your modem?

Also, is it possible this is being blocked by a port setting?
