Morning, Sorry to sound new (but I am) and I'm sure this question has been hashed to death by others before....but here goes... Is there anyway around the 31 Prim limit on vehicles? I have some expensive yard art (Tiger 1 by Equino) that I tweaked to the tune of 10 additional prims to make it more realistically detailed and of course physics does not work on it now. I can drive it around minus my additions and just have a copy to whip out to show what it could look like...but (and I hope I'm not sounding like a whiney one now) I have heard of giant spaceships and things with hundreds of prims that work so I'm asking for help from you veterans. Any advice is appreciated. Painless Black Wolf (Painless Kawabata Inworld)

The prim limit would be always around to stay though. Its the most "economical" limit for most servers, raising the bar will tend to bring about sim lag issues as each linked prim in a vehicle actually has it physics individually calculated when driven.
Vehicles over 32 prims you mentioned will tend to run on a more unconventional vehicle script, which are largley reposition/displacement scripts, not the standard linear motor types we see.
The main hope for builders like us is hopefully the introduction of the merge prim feature where prims can be permanently linked (i.e the rigid body) so that physics will only be caculated for the body itself. Maybe that will be a new feature in future releases?

) Gyro, I'll hang onto my 'tweaked' Tiger in hopes of the Prim Merge feature being introduced in a future code drop. Thanks for the quick response, its most appreciated. Painless Black Wolf ...aka Painless Kawabata... ...Here for the Dawn...

There is a crude cheat I have used on a few of my flight craft builds: turn the vehicle into a body attachment. The downside is that it goes phantom. The plus side side is no known prim limit and you can cross the 4km altitude limit with impunity. You'll also need an animation to keep your avatar body in a fixed position and some sort of attachable flight enhancer.

Thanks, I'll see if it's workable (minus the flight)with a Tank. Once again, the help is greatly appreciated. Painless Black Wolf aka Painless Kawabata

Hmm. Well, since my view on SL has shifted a little bit, I'll bring up a point that's been in the back of my mind...
From what I've heard/seen, if you had an object with greater than 32 prims, with physics enabled, PRIOR to whichever patch restricted vehicles/physics to 32 prims... you can get around it that way. I've seen 80-200 prim vehicles that work this way. I have even talked with a person who had an item like this and was offering to help me create high-prim vehicles, however this unnamed person wanted about 30% of the profits of every vehicle I would end up selling, so I decided not to take them up on their offer...
Anyone know where I could get something like this, or have full-perms high-prim vehicle I could buy from you to hack into my own high prim vehicles? I'd be willing to pay a decent amount of L$ for a linked-set of prims with physics enabled created back in the day, and I'm sure there are other people who would too. Haven't seen much discussion about it here on the forums, is this like a taboo topic or something?

Painless, you could make the tank work in the following way:
1) Build a basic ground vehicle with all the control and propulsion scripts. 2) Attach the tank to your avatar body. 3) 'Sit' in the basic vehicle 4) Use your editor to position the tank body so that it looks like it's actually rolling on the ground. 5) Have fun!

From: Alazarin Mondrian Joins the queue behind Logan. Me! I want one, too! Heh, yah, it's right here next to the "I want Havok 2" line... They're about the same length, I think. ;P
