I have been using SL quite happily for the last few weeks. Yesterday, having been nagged by a version checker, I updated my NVidia drivers to the latest 91.31... and suddenly today I'm getting told that my graphics card is GDI Generic and SL refuses to start. Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm going to try rolling back to the previous driver version for now - hopefully that will fix it. But this is a bit of a pain.
just to note, I have an AMD 64 x2 system, with an NVidia Geforce 7900 GT (256 Mb) graphics card, and 2Gb of memory.
Edit:- Rolling back to 84.43 seems to have done the trick, but its a pain not being able to use the latest official drivers. Any hopes that LL will update the hardware detection so it doesn't think 91.31 is a GDI Generic?

Did you log this as a bug? If not please do so ( or Linden Labs bug team may not get the message )... On a different note unless you have a specific problem that updating drivers fixes it's truly not worth it. I'm using 6.2 and 6.3 Cats on my systems because they run well and I've not hit a problem that requires later drivers. OTOH Your the latest of a number of times I've heard people have problems which rolling drivers back fixed.
