Last Friday I installed a new Graphics card (XFX GeForce 7600GS AGP 8X 256MB DDR2). SL runs much smoother and the environment seems to load a lot faster, however, I get random crashes where the system freezes, the screen goes black, the sound goes and then after a minute or so my computer will reboot, if I don't restart it first. I followed the usual measures when installing the card. I uninstalled my old drivers, turned off my virus scanner, and I've made sure that my BIOS settings corresponded to the new hardware. And I followed the directions on the NVidia web sit for installing the new driver. I don't have any other games installed on this computer, so I don't know if I'd crash doing something other than playing SL. Sometimes I can be in SL for several hours before things black out and freeze, other times just a few minutes. Is there a particular set of drivers that I should install in order to do SL? The system runs just fine other than this SL crash problem. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Thx in advance Ethan

Do a stress test on the vid card, sounds like your psu isnt keeping up and boots you, should really get least 500watt with good 12volts, apg eats power. 3dmark one way to test Heres a similar case of the 430 watt youre using(useless page tho) ( google'ism make me look like i know anything )

Im a non-geek, but I had a similar problem once after getting a new video card and updating the chipset drivers (motherboard drivers) did the trick for me. I also wonder if it can be a heat problem, do the newer video cards put out a lot of heat?

You might want to defrag the sysem........And or reinstalling the os...I never had problems install a new CG to a old system. Unless you uninstalled or installed the wrong drivers. I never uninstalled drivers in my life for a GC. I just installed over them. TOo mnay unknowing tech people are say you must uninstall drivers. Unless your using BETA drivers which should not be used in any case for any chip set MB, GC, etc.........Be smart learn ou computer, read the information on the HOWS todays. and be your own tech. Otherwise your chasing your own tail.........A little friendly advice...... BTW watchout there is adware pop up on second link she added.......

From: Usagi Musashi But hun his cpu is not a strong one he should have enough power to run the 7600...... His CPU probably draws more power than you think however that's not the point. A CPU uses low voltage rails, a GC used high voltage and higher current. Therefore a solid PSU is essential to support a GC regardless off the CPU. That said Antec are solid PSU's so that won't be the issue unless it's dying. For the record I run a Tagan TG430 PSU on my system and it's rock solid. My system being a 3800+ X2/X1800XT.. It's the QUALITY that matters first and formost. Only stuff like heavily overclocked rigs, dual graphics or the real top end systems need more than 500W.

Still his system is not the power consuming..... the CPU is what 90watt gc what watts? he running two HDD not that large of size etc.... But those asus MB ( i have more ) are very haves problems much......When installing no hardware........ "RIG" as you call them i still call them Computers.............at times do have their periods of unstabilty specially when updating parts onthe MB.........ASUS MB has a history of Bio driver problems etc........(1.009 REVISION bio for the asuse MB)............

Thanks for all the fast and great advice!! My system and SL seem to be getting along as of today. I did defrag my drive before I put in the new hardware. I downloaded a free Video Card Stability Test from http://freestone-group.com/ran it for 45 minutes and had no problems which sort of ruled out any hardware or overheating problems. Next I took Usagi Musashi's advise and downloaded and installed the latest MB drivers from Nvidia (Force_5.10_WinXP2K_WHQL_english file version 2.11.15.0). I haven't had a freeze up crash since then!!!! I parked myself in a camping chair and went to bed. I was still there when I woke up this morning. If things go south again, I shall reformat my C drive and reinstall XP and my programs. My C drive is on a separate partition from my data partitions so it isn't that big a deal. Thanks again for the help. Ethan

Ethan Gesh I am so happy that helped!.....I been fighting with this asus A8N-SLi Premium AMD mB and this 4400 110 watt cpu for over 2 months now.........I even installed a Enermax Liberty 620 Power Supple....and I still freeze up...... So i really understand how this asus Mb works.......I happy I helped you out.......Enjoy

Its assumed that your connected to the internet right.........
I gotten these when I have not been connected to my internet line.
Another possiblity is your fire wall is not letting commucation happen between your computer and your secondlife client and server. Might want to support@secondlife.com for this one.
