if you seem to run a good FPS and get good quality, post what your options are set to, this is really annoying me, i can't seem to play because of lag...and FPS!

P4 1.4GHz
384MB RAM
GeForce 4 Ti 4200

I have avatar cloth and bump mapping off, local lighting off, and draw distance at 128. Get decent FPS at all times.

Before Verizon slowed my connection speed for some unexplained reason I used to get 20-50 FPS with these settings. Now I get on average 10-15, which I still find acceptable even if it's not exactly warp speed. I prefer to view things the way they are intended to look (shine, local lighting) and live with a few less FPS than have to see the world through blinders in order for it to move as fast as possible.

There are so many reasons you may be getting lag, The options may or may not be the culpret. Give us a list of your specs and what you are using and perhaps we can spot something. Be sure to include screen resolution, graphic card settings etc.

One big culprit i have found is the MB chipset drivers, if they haven't been updated that can cause all sorts of problems. Depending on graphic cards, drivers for those can be a major source of headache.

One think to keep in mind is where you are, there are unbelievable differences in performance depending on where you are standing in SL. Go to one of the brand new sims and see what your frame rates are. Looking into the sky in Keuka I got 135 fps and the sim is running at 8800fps. My home sim with the same settings I get 19fps and the sim is running about 1000fps but it has a lot of builds on it. Keep in mind every object in a sim is a tiny performance hit, scripts, local lighting, rotating prims all take more and it all adds up. Every avatar in the sim is a large performance hit as well.

I can go to Teazers with 35 people there and be running at a slide show framerate. When the sim frame rate drops to 20, no matter what set up you have, you are going to get a slideshow.
