SecondLife Hyperlink Bug!

I am trying to implement SecondLife hyperlinks on the SLPRS website. As I have been experimenting with this, I have discovered a big bug!

When you use one of these links with SecondLife turned off, they work correctly; i.e. SL turns on, you log in at the closest telehub with the map up and the location mapped (sometimes you get an error message even though it worked). However if you are already using SecondLife, these links do not work at all; i.e. no REGION is passed to SL, so no location is mapped and no teleport occurs. Real bummer because it makes these links pretty much useless at the moment :(

Perhaps there is a simple HTML-side fix to this?

Feel free to test it yourself if you like =)

I've noticed something like this before, Higbee. I'm not sure if it was exactly what you describe, but it was definitely similar.

Sorry to say, that bug has been around a very long time. I noticed it last winter or spring.

Worked for me too last time I tried it, though it doesn't induce teleporting, it just marks it on the map.
I'm on Win2K now but may have still been on 98 when I last tried it.
Will test tonight when I get home.

I was at work when I posted above. Now that I'm home...

IE and Firefox both take me to the closest tp station and give the red beam when SL isn't running. When SL is running, Firefox changes the x/y numbers shown in the map but not the region and no actual marking of the map. IE doesn't do anything at all.

[edited to add] This is with win xp.

solution, switch to os x ;) jk

sorry about the joke. If I were you, i'd check the setting in your web browser. Most likely it doesn't have the prefix secondlife:// defined. It may work properly, if you asine it. Allowing you to tell your web browser how to interpit it.
