Increasingly frustrated with randomly changing textures

I just spent about 45 minutes painstakingly texturing something I'm working on. When I was all done and had it the way I like it, I selected the entire object to rename it and put it into my inventory. WHAM! The entire object, all 50-some prims reverted to the last texture I had used.

Can I get my 45 minutes back? Or better yet, can this bug that I've brought up in the forums a couple of times, and submitted bug reports on several times every be addresses or even acknowledged by a Linden?

I've experienced this too when recoloring things... something is JUST so unintuitive about the way it works. I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but I've known times where I made the mistake of not checking the box to edit linked parts, and then I made the whole, many-primmed object solid green or pink and I was like "NOOO!"

Isn't there some way the system can detect that you're about to change many textures to a single one, and send a warning popup to you, asking "ARE YOU SURE???"

Or better yet, the UNDO command should work for this. True to its name. :)

It's definately the apply texture immediately box being checked.

Torley's idea of a confimation box if the change would effect a certain number or more prims would be awesome. I wouldn't mind fixing 5 prims, but 56 prims, multiple sides getting different textures, is just a pain.
