Well, not sure if this is the best forum for this, but I asking over at SLEX as well, so I hope to get an answer.

Have the last names been reset?
My wife was sitting down to create an account and naturally we wanted to share a last name. When she went to search the list "Woodget" wasn't there?

As we have a business and contacts in SL this was rather important to us, so I am wondering why that is. My teen son was able to pick it for Teen Grid just a few days ago, but now, no go. And if a Linden is reading this and can tell us if there is an affordable option if it has been retired, please do!

Theres only a set number on lastnames till they cant be used anymore, dont ask me how many, but they go fast, so you cant get the same lastname if its not availible right now.

There's 18,418 people with that last name....according to www.slnamewatch.com, it's been retired. No chance to use it anymore, sorry.

Just a few days ago we checked it and it was available.
So, fiddlesticks!, The effort of changing accounts to get the same name, if I could even do such a thing, would suck. So no worries.

I really wish they would open it all up.

Sorry to deliver the bad news.....but at least you can use the site I gave you tocheck on available names without actually going to the register page. And you can see how many other people with them already exist.

Look at that... it took so long to rotate the names that people actually got used to having the same names available all the time.
I'm sorry, Brambleberry. The original plan (LL says) was to retire a last name after a hundred or so residents picked it up. I guess with the new paradigm of 1000s of new residents per day, that quota is filled within the first week a name is released. So you cannot predict when any given name will be retired. It can happen at any time.
