Hello, I am shopping for a new graphics card, because my old one was made obsolute for SL a few updates back. Before I buy a new one, I would like to have some sort of assurance that the hardware requirements won't immediately and arbitrarily change after I make the investment in a new card (specifically for SL). How long are the system requirements listed here good for?

Unless you choose to buy old technology, the newer cards will be good. I could be wrong, but if SL ever switched from Open GL to DX10 (unlikely), we would mostly be screwed.
I find it interesting that SL still lists the GeForce 2 and ATI 8500 under minimum requirements. I know for a fact that the ATI 8500 could barely handle SL a year ago. This was before hardware lighting. |

For now nvidia 6600/7800/7900 cards would do, SL isnt very advanced when it comes to gpu use yet, it does very little of what newer games do. |
