Shouldn't the grassy area look like grass tinted red instead of bright solid red?

it looks tinted to me when i turn that on. have you checked your color and gamma settings for your monitor and video card?
i'm thinking especially of nvidia "digital vibrance" which can blast the saturation almost exactly like in your pic.

Sigh - Digital Vibrance is off,

Digital Vibrance is off, if it were on other colors would be affected also, not just the View Land Owners turned on display. I did check the setting to make sure. The bad display does resemble the way the screen looks with Digital Vibrance on.
It also turns my hair white intermittently! If I wanted to see myself with white hair I could quit Second Life, quit using hair dye, and look in the mirror. Eyuch, what a deprssing thought that is.
